I have received the tickets for the tour of ibrox stadium from the ticket office. These are non refundable, so if you have intimated that you wanted a ticket but are unable to attend the tour, i am afraid that you still have to pay for the ticket. Meeting outside Ibrox main doors at 11am. This should be a great visit and we will see the newest addition to the trophy cabinet which as everyone knows was secured after a nervous 120 minutes and a penalty shoot-out, The C.I.S.Cup.

A few thank you's regarding the ceilidh, thank you Garry, Peter. Thanks to all who attended, to all who gifted raffle prizes, to all our visitors, i hope that you all enjoyed the night. i would also like to thank the Brethren of St Vincent Sandyford for their support during the first half of the year and look foward to their continued support in the second half. We may have a break through regards the identity of "Boaby", those at the last comm's meeting i think are all safe from suspicion now, unless there is a double bluffer in our midst. I hope you all have a great summer break including "Boaby".

Hi Boaby, old House !
How are you doing?
Did you still anger and kidding the members of ST. Vincent Sandyford?
You know, for me a German, it looks like as you be the good Scottish ghost from Roslyn or where ever, to save the "Vincent Sandyfords" or you be their mascot.
Anyways, I like you but don´t do it to hart with the boys, cause they are my friends.
See you !

Frank, time is never an issue, it is always a joy to have the pleasure of your company and we look foward to your next visit whenever time allows.Fraternal greetings and best wishes to yourself and the brethren of your Lodge.

Could i remind the members of St Vincent Sandyford who have still to return Grand Lodge raffle tickets to bring them along to the Ceilidh on Saturday as they have to be returned to Grand Lodge by Friday 8th June along with unsold tickets. Brethren who have tickets but can't attend the Ceilidh could you please make sure that you have your tickets returned along with unsold tickets by this date also. Lets fully support the Ceilidh as the W.J.W and others have given a lot of their time and energy in organising this event to ensure it will be a fantastic evening. tickets will be available on the night, please come along and join us for a night of great entertainment and super company.
Thank you.

I´m intresting what Boaby will say to this.
In Germany people who don´t say something about theire birthdays, they are afraid, that they must spend and pay so much drinks.
Greg, is your RWM stingy?

But we are all not perfect, so tell him,
the Brethren of thee St. John´s Lodge "To the Scull and Phoenix" , No 11 , Berlin
wish him, luck, success and all the best !
Happy Birthday Davie !
(Greg, please correct my English when it´s wrong)

Davie, what should I say after these, your words in our guestbook ?
... sometimes we can be friendly ...? This is not a funny-snobby answer, this is nothing.
Davie you and all the Brethren, you show us first, what Scottish - especially "Glasgow-Hospitality" means ! You all give us first by the visit of the MASONIC DEMONSTRATION DAY never ending memories of Scotland, of Glasgow, of thee Lodge St. Vincent Sandyford No.553 , of you all !
So, what we did, this is a minimum to say "THANK YOU, TO YOU ALL"!
We are a little bit proud, to show you our hospitality, we are a little bit proud, that you are our guests. In the name of my RWM Bro. Bernd Zimmermann and all Brethren, we are very happy, that you gave us the honor to be with us.
Our friendship should be also a never ending story.
I hope in 200 years our future generation will talk about Davie, Greg, Frank, Garry and three liter bierglass. Euro-boy, Bernd, Allan, Michael, Peter, Olaf and, and, and.....
How the Scottish teach Germans to sing. Yes Davie, we also looking forward and we are with you !
See you soon, Fraternally Yours

Just in case anyone does not know, celeidh tickets are now available at a bargain price of £7.50 each, live band, buffet and raffle should add to what will be a great night. Don't worry if you can't dance, the band will talk everyone through the steps before "letting loose". Looking forward to next week, when at this time I believe we will be enjoying some of the Berlin "culture"( and possibly recovering from a late night with our friends from tofix!!!!). The whisky will be purchased before the GCM tonight for approval by the committee!

Yes i have to agree with the comments of the W.S.W. Brother Greg a great example of the Master Mason degree carried out last night at lodge Ruchill. A great mixture of theatrics, drama and an enjoyable evening in the company of the members of Lodge Ruchill. Well done and thank you Worshipful Conferring Master brother Robin and every brother who participated in the degree, also to the brother's lending some moral support. Let's look towards Friday now when we visit Lodge Corkerhill to perform an Entered Apprentice Degree and hope that the labours of the evening are as equally enjoyable which i am sure shall be the case.

07 March 2007 00:00:00
Andrew, I have looked into the Brother you refer to, but unfortunately the reigning master of the date refered to in St Andrews Minutes was Thomas Lindsay, however it may refer to a PM of the period, a brother William Barclay PM, who may well have led the deputation. Brother Barclay was initiated into the Lodge on 3rd September 1874, the date of our consecration, along with 14 other candidates. Thereby being one of the first to have Saint Vincent, Sandyford as his mother Lodge. Bro Barclay was installed as RWM on the 24th Dec 1884 and served for 3 consecutive years. I'll E mail you with the personal details we have and would be happy to assist with any further enquiries of this nature.

I currently have access to our minutes from our consecration in 1874 up to and including 1908, and the roll book to the early 1950's. The minute books from 1908 I hope to get hold of in the not too distant future, but would ask anyone researching relatives or other former members if they can supply as much info as they have at hand, which will greatly assist my researches.

Dear Robin,
Many thanks for your speedy reply and the information is appreciated. Most of my relatives came from Kilmarnock and my ancestors were The Barclays of Ladyland also Kilbirnie, Ayyrshire. It is possible that William Barclay would have been from these ancient families. Some of my fathers relatives lived in Glasgow, one had a Tobacconists shop. Unfortunately my father died in 1997 and I have no contact details for his uncles and cousins. I do know that my Great Grandfather Andrew Barclay was a Freemason. He lived in Rennie Street, Kilmarnock and died in 1939. I do not know the name of his mother Lodge. This is another part of my research.
I am currently President of Clan Barclay International and if any of your members would like information about their origins they are welcome to e-mail me directly. Clan Barclay website is www.clanbarclay.org.
Yours fraternally,
Brother Andrew Barclay

I am originally from Falkirk ( Born in Glasgow 1939) emigrated to Australia 1967 and I am currently living in California USA since 1998.
.
I was a member of The Lodge of Rectitude 537, Darebin Temple. Melbourne, Australia. I became Senior Warden but did not proceed any further. I have been inactive for many years. I have been doing a lot of family research and my GGGF was Andrew Barclay founder of the Caledonia Locomotive Engineering works in Kilmarnock. I have a lot of information abpout him and I have started to investigate if he was a Freemason.
.
Yesterday I was looking at Lodge St Andrew126, Kilmarnock web site and found a reference to RWM Barclay of Lodge St. Vincent 553 in the year 1900. They were visiting Lodge St Andrew at that time. I am interested to find out more about RWM Barclay and any other Barclay's that were or are members of your Lodge.
.
Yours fraternally,
Brother Andrew Barclay

A big hearty thanks and well done to everyone who attended Lodge Gallen last night. Truely a humbling site surveying the Lodge room. The Brethren of St Vincent Sandyford really stood out. The brilliant brightness of the white gloves was fantastic. Well done to everyone who took part in the degree, especially the brethren who were either working on the floor for the first time or delivering a new part of the degree. I know from the comments of the brethren who where present that they all enjoyed the labour's of the evening and the new Entered Apprentice Brother Darren was thrilled, which was more pleasing. Well done Brother Allan D.O.C.,P.M. in selecting such a great mix of youth and experience in the team. It was a very proud evening for myself and i thank one and all for your support on the evening and look foward to your continued support through out the year.

We have here a real problem with Germany and Austrian Lodges and you "Scots" ! They all want you to come to their hometowns and visit their Lodges.
.
Really they are sad, because i told them, it is to much for your 2007 trip. So, we will plan it for 2008, 2009, 2010 ? Otherwise please help me and be polite and write them all please. My God, i should start to be jealousy against the Scottish Brethren ? Brothers, they really love you all....Did you put something in there drinks?

Please talk about that things ,be creative and find an answer !

About the drinks I cannot comment as I don't drink Whisky.

I will discuss the request to visit other Lodges with my brethren, I'm sure there are other options for spreading the St. V cement widely.

PM Garry informs me that contrary to the info on the media page, Santa in fact IS NOT DEAD., but is well and ready to complete his yearly job.
.
Apparently I forgot about quantum physics which as we all know Santa is an expert at using to manipulate the time/space continuum, to allow him to travel almost instantaneously from his base in space (thus eliminating the air resistance/ weight/ acceleration questions) to each individual house and back again.
.
This he does by "freezing time" at each visit to allow him to perform his Christmas duties at his leisure & eat & drink what he wants without fear of putting any weight on as he is "not really there" but in a time/space hole where his presence is only allowed by the manipulation of the physical world around him, thus anything he eats is not there in the first place so cannot be assimilated by his body when he slips back to his own time.
.
I would like like top take this opportunity to appologise to Arron & Ruaridh for the concern I caused them on this special time of year.

A further clue Greg, the curator of Rosslyn Chapel has just been in touch to inform us that a previously un-noticed carving has been discovered, subsequent to our recent visit. Although it is still being examined, several clumps of grass (only known to grow in the Valley of the Leven) are clearly visible. What looks like a pair of crossed scimitars, although one expert suggested they resemble an early form of golf club, intersect the word GOD, unfortunately the O has long since disappeared. What is of greater interest is the fact that this mural is dated! 1553, however the 1 has been worn away. Most intriguing though is the non-conformative Mason's Mark,
0-0
the only other example of which was found at the Alamo,Texas and is attributed to a Bro. from Dallas.
This fantastic new find only came to light from an entry in the Visitors Book praising the aforementioned, and giving rough directions. The entry was signed Boaby and dated 08/09/06! The staff at Rosslyn are anxious to contact Boaby.

I am in the process of getting quotes for buses for the 1-2-3 weekend in September. There will be a trip to Rosslyn Chapel on Friday 8th followed by a couple of hours in Edinburgh to see the castle or shop or perhaps do some research into the myths surrounding Burke & Hare! There is also a possibilty of a distillery tour/meal in the evening back in or around Glasgow. As numbers for these will be limited I would appreciate any brethren wishing to attend any of these events contacting me as soon as possible. The first 30 or so places on this will be taken by our friends from Germany & Austria the rest will be given on a first come basis, with anyone outside the capacity being put on the waiting list. Once prices have been confirmed deposits will be required to secure places.I hope as many as possible can attend what promises to be a great day/night and a chance to renew old friendships & make new ones.

So that there is no Confusion the fishing day has not been held and everyone will receive timely notice of when it will be taking place (no pun intended)

Another great day on Sunday at the Lodge Golf Invitational, congratulations to Big Peter not only for taking the Peter G. Maxwell Trophy but for the excellent organisation, ably assisted by Greg, Garry and Davie. I'm sure everyone, Brethren and Gentlemen alike enjoyed it as much as I did. A particular thank you to Gala Casinos and others for the excellent donations of raffle prizes which helped raise a handsome sum which will be presented to Yorkhill Childrens Hospital at the earliest instance.
This event, although only resurrected in 2005 after a 19 year gap, is becoming a firm favourite and I'm sure will continue to be so for many years to come.

Another fine display by the Lodge Degree Team at Lodge Galen 1285 last week, congratulations IPM Garry and a particular mention for our Jeweller Peter, an excellent first time on the floor. I'll avoid nicknames as that got me into bother the last time. Sorry Gunner!
A great turnout too 12 of a deputation was excellent, and was commented on by both Past PGMs that were present. Next big objective is the 1,2,3 in September which I hope to start rehearsing shortly. Again well done Garry!

It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Donald Macdonald P.M. to the Grand Lodge above. Donald was a great inspiration to me and the Lodge as a whole, I don't think I've attended a Provincial or Grand Lodge function in the last couple of years without enjoying his company and benefiting from his advice. Some of these occasions can be somewhat daunting but Donald's knowledge of the required etiquette and introductions were a welcome reassurance. Despite being involved in a number of other orders and societies Donald always had the interests of his Mother Lodge closest to his heart. On a number of occasions I had the pleasure of a good half hour blether on the phone, re the current activities of the Lodge and looking to the future. The last such conversation, some three weeks ago, had Donald commenting on how well he thought the younger brethren and office bearers were conducting the business and promoting the Lodge throughout the Province, high praise indeed!
Saint Vincent Sandyford has had a few sticky periods in the last decade and Donald, among others, was instrumental in pulling us through including taking the chair for a second time in 2000-2001.
The Lodge has enjoyed a number of high points and occasions over the last few years but I'm sure you will agree that Donald's passing is one of our darker hours.
On behalf of the Lodge I would extend our deepest sympathies to Donald's wife Kathy and his family.

Dear Greg,

I have approved your Lodge website which is now active on our site.

I have entered your site in our (AZ) section to enable your site to be viewed on the first page of our Masonic Links section.

Your link shall remain in this section for three/months to allow you some exposure then we shall move it to our Scottish Lodge section where it shall be catalogued by lodge number.

We trust our link shall offer your Lodge will benefit from our link as we receive over 2000 visitors on our site each week, many of which visit our Masonic Links section.

Should there be anything we can assist you with please do not hesitate to contact our office.

Good Luck with the carpet. We have also supplied Lodge Tradeshouse with a similar carpet to your own but different of course in terms of design. I hope the brethren of the Lodge are happy with your design as you put a lot of work into this? I thought it looked great.

Sincere and fraternal greetings.

I am certain the Lodge will benefit greatly from your Website once linked to the many Masonic sites available.

Congratulations on the introduction of your very informative site.

I would appreciate if you could link our Millennium Mark website with the St. Vincent site?

We approved your website and from feedback you have received it would seem our Masonic Links page is offering you some exposure?

November 2005. The meeting commences at 6.30 p.m. Stewart is an Honourary Member of 553, and extends a very warm welcome to anyone who wishes to attend. Special, personal thanks to all the office-bearers and bretheren for their support over the past 12 months. In one way or another we seem to be gaining strength as a unit. Participating in most Prov. events (Capt; Spiers next year!), resurrecting old St.V's favs. Golf/Fishing, and above all supporting both local and national charities.

There are too many facets to the lodge to expect every brother to participate in all, but we must try to continue to support our sister lodges.

Finally a request to those brethren we have not seen for a while, please keep in touch and try to get along when you can.

On Saturday 25 June 2005 I visited the village of Forth in Lanarkshire and witnessed the annual walk of the local Lodge, Wilsontown Ironwoks St John Lodge No236 this has been ongoing since 1817. The Lodge started in the hamlet of Wilsontown in 1810 in the storeroom of the local Ironworks they moved to the village of Forth some years later but return to their "roots" every year. Its a big occassion in the district and the walk is supported by other Lodges from near and far and all have a great day.

I would like to thank all the brethren and gentlemen who helped make the lodge golf day a tremendous event, with a special thanks to big Peter, Greg and Gary who all helped the day to run smoothly unlike Andy Pattersons drives from the Tee which where by all accounts not so smooth but very entertaining but hazardous for any wildlife living in the bushes. I think that it is only right that it should be mentioned that the Lodge has just lost a PM who played an important part in the history of 553, namely Angus Heron who was Master in 1972 and 1984 and Lodge Secretary for many years. A Flight Lieutenant in the RAF during WW2 he saw action with Bomber Command over Europe, a dangerous occupation to say the least, then worked in Singer Clydebank for many years. Small in stature he was a Giant as far as the Lodge is concerned and will be sadly missed by one and all.
